Sometimes it takes a sad event to reinforce why we try so hard to put on a great Golf Classic. This week saw us lose two people who are friends of the V Foundation. You may have seen Dakoda Dowd's mother follow her around during last year's Classic. Kelly Jo Dowd was fighting cancer and this week she lost that battle. In addition, Payton Wright, a young girl who was a favorite of Dick Vitale and our own volunteer Susan Albano, also was a victim of cancer. Not a good week. But it increases our resolve and helps us tighten our belt a little more, maybe give a little more, in hopes we can generate enough money to prevent this from happening to others.
